Step 1: Measure Ceiling-Height-to-Chandelier Ratio
Using a tape measure, determine the distance between the power supply and the chandelier’s suggested location. To account for slack, add 2 to 3 feet to this measurement. The amount of slack you require is determined by how much chain and cord you want to drape between the fixture and its swag hooks.

Purchase the necessary chain and cord lengths. Chain and cable are sold by the foot in most home improvement stores. To accommodate for electrical connections, lengthen the power cord by 2 feet.

How To Place Joist In The Right Location
